Another idea is cancel “subscriptions” to catalogs and other emails that send you notices of sales, etc. If you see those, you’re more likely to be enticed to buy something you don’t really need.

These are good ideas, Savannah! I think frugality is making a come-back. I appreciate the tip on mending. A little thread and a few well-placed stitches can extend the life of many a piece of clothing. Also, I keep a list of items we need/want and then shop second-hand first.

I really like the tips you posted! Roy & I already practice some of them. I would warn you though about the hair cutting tip. I know a JAF lady that got fined by the state for trimming her father’s hair. Someone turned her in to the state license powers that be. Since she’s not a licensed cosmetologist, the fine was hefty!

There’s something honest/right about frugle living. It’s rewarding in a special way and helps develop a mindset that is resourceful and abundant.

One way to measure wealth is by the gap between the level of income that comes in to your household and what it costs you to live. Even on a modest income – you can achieve that gap. Living frugally unlocks a measure of ‘wealth’ that many people miss.

Some of my happiest and most content moments in my life have been with a modest income and simple living.
